A quilters' retreat is usually held once a year, towards the end of the year. The idea of this weekend is rest, relaxation, fun, friendship and sharing of ideas. This is a wonderful way to make new friends. Watch out for details in Connecting Threads. In recent years it has been held at Warrambui and is often referred to as "Warrambui".
The Theme for the Retreat for this year is:
High Tea at Tiffany's.
It's sure to be great fun!

Quilts For Others was formed in 2000. The aim was to enable quilts for those in need in the community to be supported on a continuing basis. Kits are prepared and may be collected and returned at all evening and most day meetings. Work may be undertaken at any or all stages of quiltmaking i.e. piecing, quilting, binding.
A number of working bees are organized during the year at a local hall to enable significant progress to be made on these quilts. These are great days to get together, enjoy the fellowship of fellow quilters and frequently learn new skills. QFO also demonstrates all aspects of quiltmaking during Canberra Quilters Annual Exhibition.
We would like as many members as possible to support this worthwhile effort. If you have any questions, or wish to volunteer your time or supplies, please contact one of us.
Marymead Child and Family Centre, The Ted Noffs Foundation, Barnados, Nursing Homes, Special Schools and various charities are regularly supplied with donations of quilts.

Canberra Quilters occassionally takes the opportunity to purchase a quilt for historical purposes or for display in a public place.
In 2000 Canberra Quilters purchsed a quilt from the Quilts 2000 Collection. The quilt purchased was Margaret Wright's quilt 'Sunset over the Brindabellas'. It now lives permanently in the Canberra Public Library Sevice at the Gungahlin Branch on permanent loan. We wanted it to be displayed in an ACT publice place for all Canberrans to have the opportunity to see and enjoy it.
