Interpretation of a poster as remembered by my mother. After World War II, the slogan ‘The Land of Milk and Honey’ was used by the Government to invite Europeans to migrate here. Motifs set into the road represent my parents’ hopes — having a home, enough food, education and transport. Our family sailed into Sydney on the Canberra on 5 October 1949.
