Rubber stamping, machine piecing, machine quilting. 118 cm H x 80 cm W In making this quilt, I spent four days ‘listening’ to my grandmother (1898–1996) — trying to catch, in fabric and stitching, her self-effacing ‘get on with the job/be economical/add a little something special’ attitude (though she ‘said’ the gold quilting thread was unwarranted!). It is my salute to all those whose toils have underpinned so many achievements since Federation. |
