A Selection of Quilts Made By THE WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY GIRLS

The WWGirls are five friends who met through quilting. They enjoy regular meetings in one anothers’ homes and find many excuses to spend time together in between Wednesdays . The Canberra Quilters day and evening meetings are always a part of their planned activities, as well as excursions to the various quilting shops.

1. CHRISTMAS SURPRISE
This quilt was made in a course, “Japanese Folded Patchwork” with Barbara Gower. The colours I chose were Autumn shades, which gave me a very interesting effect. The quilt name was easy with the way the green and red colours came through very strongly with the cream flowers.

2. REP’S QUILT – A TRIBUTE TO WARDROBE
Made to commemorate Canberra Rep’s 70th Anniversary, this quilt usually hangs in the foyer of Theatre 3. Jenny was helped by several past and present wardrobe designers and sewers. It received 1st prize in its category at the 2006 Canberra Quilters Exhibition.

In 2003, the W W Girls gave each member of the group 25, 5 inch squares as a Christmas gift. We then all had the same 125, 5 inch squares and 12 months to complete a quilt of individual design. Beba completed her quilt and had given it away by the end of January! Anne’s and Jill’s are on show. Carolyn’s and Jenny’s are works in progress.
