Canberra Quilters Inc. -
Quilts For Others (QFO)
Guidelines

The following guidelines were provided by QFO sub-committee and they have been ratified by the CQ Committee.

THE QFO SUB-COMMITTEE

  1. Quilts for Others will operate as a non-elected sub-committee of Canberra Quilters Inc. It will consist of a Convenor and at least three other members.
  2. The sub-committee will organise the packaging and distribution of kits; purchase supplies as necessary; and organise large working bees as required.
  3. The group will endeavour to be self-funding; through raffles, auctions, and other fund raising ventures as appropriate. Canberra Quilters Inc. will pay the hall hire for the large working bees; currently four per year are held.
  4. The sub-committee will screen and fulfil requests for quilts endeavouring to clear such requests with the President when possible. If there is any doubt about a request, or before refusing a request, the sub-committee will consult with the main committee.
  5. The sub-committee will maintain independent proper financial records and a regularly updated asset register which will be available to the Treasurer.

QUILT RECIPIENTS

  1. Quilts will be distributed to members of the community who are disadvantaged, underprivileged, physically or mentally disabled.
  2. Raffle quilts will not be a priority and will only be supplied to organisations if available.
  3. Organisations considered to be fully able to care for themselves will not be supported e.g. churches, schools (other than special schools), arts or cultural groups. Outreach Groups such as Anglicare which are sponsored or run by churches will be supported.
  4. Anyone is free to make a request for quilts but priority will be given to those from members of Canberra Quilters.
  5. Decisions regarding suitable recipients will by made by the QFO sub-committee but they will consult with the main committee where possible; and definitely where there is any uncertainty about the suitability of a requesting group and before refusing a request.
  6. Some organisations may be supported on an ongoing basis. At the moment Marymead and The Ted Noffs Foundation are being given quilts annually.
