Happy Jack Quilting Machine | Come along for a 2 hour hands on session to familiarise yourself with the Happy Jack. You will then be eligible to book and use the machine to quilt those quilt tops. 5 places available at each session. |

Basics of Dyeing | In this five hour workshop, you will learn about safe and effective ways to dye cotton fabric with procion dyes. Mary Kennedy will cover some of the science and art behind dyeing to help you produce beautiful pieces of dyed fabric that you can then use in your patchwork, art and craft. You will learn how to dye fabrics in a sequence from light to dark and from primary colour to secondary colour. You will also have opportunities to experiment with overdyeing and a range of pattern-making techniques. Each student will leave the workshop with twelve fat quarters (three metres) of dyed fabric, a set of notes and a good understanding of the processes involved. |

Introduction to Border Prints | Two days of exploring use of border prints. Using mirror image border print fabrics you will begin to explore ways to create new and exciting tiles and frames from the one piece of fabric. Margaret Kirkby from Logan's Patchwork will show us how she achieved remarkable patterns in the quilts she exhibited at the year's Sydney Quilt Show. These techniques will see you looking at your fabric in a new light. |

Advanced Dying | Mary Kennedy will take students who have done the basics course of have requisite skills on a journey around the colour wheel, producing 20 fat quarters by the end of this five hour workshop. Students will discuss topics including repeatability, dying to match commercial fabrics and alternative tones. |

Kay Haerland (winner of the Bernina 'Best of Australia', 2011 will teach us her step by step approach to creating realistic landscapes in either a 2 or 3 day workshop. the workshop will cover design, fabric selection, assembly and embellishment of a 45 x 35 cm project using on of Kay's patterns. You will learn to give life and realism to your landscapes. Techniques will include threadwork, machine applique, stencilling, painting, fussy cutting, various edge finishes and more! If we have enought people interested in the 3 day workshop, free motion quilting, use of stablizers and more surface embellishment techniques can be covered. Alternatively, more people may be interested in Kay's 1 day Postcards workshop. This is a fun and stress free way to explore new techniques and approaches before you embark on larger projects. The workshop covers design, bobbin drawing, surface embellishment and how to find great ideas. Send your expressions of interest to our Workshop Co-ordinator. |
